A sincere call to action
In a world with ever growing intergenerational conflict, ever accelerating technological progress and ever more threatening environmental changes, it is very easy to get lost in our individual experience and to miss the bigger picture of where we came from and where we are going.
In a society where we forgot who we are, and even forgot that we forgot it, we ventured on the difficult quest of bringing back our sense of self in an integral, non-discriminating and non-segmented manner..
We founded Quantum Civilization because we remembered what we forgot. We forgot who we are, we forgot what we are made of and we forgot what our highest potential is. It has been the most intense and vast experience we have had, something so incredible and beautiful that it would go against the very core of our being not to share it. In a world where such affairs have almost been lost, we want to create a community for everyone who wants to know and improve themselves. Recreating an accurate history of our identities, we will show how bias, fear, hate and misunderstanding lead our ancestors and even today’s population to divide itself to such an extent as to thrive upon the misery of other humans and animals, to kill and fight over imaginary lines drawn on a map and to define themselves by dis-identifying themselves from others. Understanding what humanity (us, not “them”) has done, not just in order to avoid making the same mistakes, but also to integrate in ourselves the past so that we may be able to move forward and actively choose our lifestyle.
While for many it may seem somewhat counter-intuitive, our world is at its best relative to its historical development and is nowhere near self-destruction. Steven Pinker explains this in his book “Enlightenment Now”, that there have been multiple developments since the Middle Ages that have resulted in an overall improvement of the world. Life expectancy has more than doubled throughout the world – if in 1760, the average human was expected to die before his 30th birthday, today we expect the average person to live up until 70 years of age. As it is well known, the population has increased exponentially since the 19th century. Together with this, poverty began to slowly dissipate – if in 1820 we could expect almost everyone except a selected few to live in abject poverty, in 1900 approximately 85% of the population to be in extreme poverty and in the 1960 two thirds of the population to be suffering of the same fate, as of 2015 only 9.6% of the world population was still suffering from this socio-economic disease.
As our wealth and population increased, so did our consumption and our impact on the environment, though the latter in a larger proportion than we expected. Compared to the experienced growth in GDP (which measures production in monetary units), CO2, Energy and Pollutant growth has been lagging, meaning that we are growing at 5 times the rate at which we are consuming. Literacy is up, and human rights protections, even though they experienced a small decline in recent years are still booming compared to the 1950s. Deaths by war, even though higher than 7 years ago are still only responsible for 0,00003% of total deaths. As Harari further presses this point in Homo Deus, “in 2012, 620,000 died due to human violence. In contrast, 800,000 committed suicide, and 1.5 million died of diabetes. Sugar is now more dangerous than gunpowder, and the average person is more likely to kill themselves than to die due to war or a terrorist attack.”
All of this though did not happen from itself. It was not simply fate that propelled us forward, it was not the inescapable clutches of the wind of destiny that have driven us to reach this evolved point in the history of humanity. What has allowed us to get here was awareness and willingness. We have always looked for what is not right in the world, and through this not only have we managed to evade our demise, but we have elevated ourselves to higher and higher levels. The only way to stop the slow evaporation of all that we have built so far is for us to continue pouring in consciousness and willpower into maintaining the gifts that the previous generations left us behind and identifying and correcting the mistakes that they have inadvertently made in the process of creating a better world.

Through this organization and its efforts in education, research and trans-disciplinary engagement we will encourage those who can appreciate the advances that have been made throughout history, but who also see the boundless possibilities of improvement that are still in front of us to actually BE the change they want to see in the world. As most of the great contemplative traditions and leading contemporary psychologists put it, “if you want to change the world you should change yourself”. We will build a platform together with these visionaries through which we can implement our views and ideas in order to bridge the gap between the sciences and the humanities. More so we will strive to create an integral, a “quantum” civilization able to understand itself, put itself in “other’s” shoes and see the world through every possible perspective.
In addition to this, we will also be building the Quantum Education system, which will allow people that may not at first be visionaries and propellants of change to go through a transformative educational experience that will allow them to metamorphose from mere executioners into leaders, free thinkers, innovators, into the glue of society, into that which can bind together all the segmented categories that the current academic paradigm has created, into a unified, whole picture.
The research drive and methodology are inspired by Integral Theory and Research thus far and will be based on a post-metaphysical and trans-disciplinary perspective that is dedicated to articulating the ways ontology, epistemology, and methodology interact and co-arise across various scales of time and space. We emphasize the perspectival nature of reality, which emerges as first-, second-, and third-person perspectives that interact with each other to enact phenomena. All these efforts will lead to a generation whose values will be based on compassion, thirst for knowledge and kindness; for which discrimination, crime, war and hate will be obsolete. How can one truly hate that which is understood and seen as oneself?
A lot of work needs to be done such that every human can reach such a stage of development. For now, most people remain silent when asked to describe or tell a story about who they are without referring to their education, job or hobbies. They feel empty, thinking they need to define themselves with something from “the outside”.
Thus far it has been almost impossible for us to have a comprehensive framework of understanding reality. However, as of the last few decades, pioneer researchers like Wilber, Maslow, Graves, Cook-Greuter and others have traced a human developmental model in which progress occurs through stages of interpretative frameworks that govern how we interpret and therefore experience our world. Development through these stages involves a process of growing up that has largely been mapped in the last century, these maps being so-called structures of development or structures of consciousness. through which all of us are evolving.
Whilst structures have been mapped out largely in the “western world”, the other essential part in having a comprehensive framework for making sense of reality lies in mastering the states of consciousness (direct first-person experiences), fields in which the “eastern world” has been making great advances for more than two millennia. Unfortunately, much of modern scientific and academic research almost completely ignores this dimension, whilst highly advanced civilizations in states have fallen behind in terms of structural development.
What we aim to achieve is the merging of these two approaches to reality and develop a world evolved in both structures and states. This merging is very important, since as we can see, a world evolving very fast in structure without accounting for states (inner individual experiences) becomes empty and lost, while mastering states alone leaves one out of touch with people from a structure which one hasn’t experienced, as you cannot be one with something that you are not even aware of.
According to a hermeneutic analysis of all religions and mythological accounts, the root of suffering is neither the feeling of pain nor of sadness nor even of meaninglessness. Rather, the real root of suffering is the never-ending and pointless pursuit of ephemeral feelings, which causes us to be in a constant state of tension, restlessness and dissatisfaction. Due to this pursuit, the mind is never satisfied. Even when experiencing pleasure, it is not content, because it fears this feeling might soon disappear, and craves that this feeling should stay and intensify. People are liberated from suffering not when they experience this or that fleeting pleasure, but rather when they understand the impermanent nature of all experiences and stop being attached to them. This, of course, does not imply an ascetic lifestyle in which one renounces all material belongings and comfort, it simply means becoming aware of the nature and consequences of all actions and assuming responsibility for them. Only then can one start seeing who they really are.
Such causes of suffering make people feel trapped by life, trapped by the universe, because they imagine that they are actually in the universe, and therefore the universe can squish them like a bug. This is not true. You are not in the universe; the universe is in you!
The typical orientation is this: my consciousness is in my body (mostly in my head); my body is in this room; this room is in the surrounding space, the universe itself. That is true from the viewpoint of the ego, but utterly false from the viewpoint of the Self. If you want to see for yourself how this truly is so, take a few minutes of your time, rest and walk through the following short meditation:
“If I rest as Witness, the formless I-I, it becomes obvious that, right now, I am not in my body, my body is IN my awareness. I am aware of my body; therefore, I am not my body. I am the pure Witness in which my body is now arising. I am not in my body; my body is in my consciousness. Therefore, be consciousness.
If I rest as Witness, the formless I-I, it becomes obvious that, right now, I am not in this house, this house is IN my awareness. I am the pure witness in which this house is now arising. I am not in this house, this house is in my consciousness. Therefore, be consciousness.
If I look outside this house, to the surrounding area—perhaps a large stretch of earth, a big patch of sky, other houses, roads and cars—if I look, in short, at the universe in front of me—and if I rest as the Witness, the formless I-I, it becomes obvious that, right now, I am not in the universe, the universe is IN my awareness. I am the pure Witness in which this universe is now arising. I am not in the universe; the universe is in my consciousness. Therefore, be consciousness.
It is true that the physical matter of your body is inside the matter of the house, and the matter of the house is inside the matter of the universe. But you are not merely matter or physicality. You are also Consciousness as Such, of which matter is merely the outer skin. The ego adopts the viewpoint of matter, and therefore is constantly trapped by matter—trapped and tortured by the physics of pain. But pain, too, arises in your consciousness, and you can either be in pain, or find pain in you, so that you surround pain, are bigger than pain, transcend pain, as you rest in the vast expanse of pure Emptiness that you deeply and truly are.
So, what do I see? If I contract as ego, it appears that I am confined in the body, which is confined in the house, which is confined in the large universe around it. But if I rest as Witness—the vast, open, empty consciousness—it becomes obvious that I am not in the body, the body is in me; I am not in this house, the house is in me; I’m not in the universe, the universe is in me. All of them are arising in the vast, open, empty, pure, luminous Space of primordial Consciousness, right now and right now and forever right now.” – Ken Wilber, The Simple Feeling of Being: Visionary, Spiritual, and Poetic Writings
In order to achieve Harari’s aforementioned ‘Homo Deus’ state, we need to start a movement defined by developing ourselves across all perspectives, lines, structures and states. Contrary to mainstream belief, at least eight lines of intelligence have been defined that can be developed within each individual: cognitive, intrapersonal, interpersonal, somatic, moral, spiritual, volitional and emotional. The same depth can be seen across all areas of development, thus creating a complex matrix of development.
To further develop a model, we will aid ourselves with a four-quadrant segmentation of our experience, each quadrant arising from a combination of interior/exterior/personal and collective perspectives.
Having defined these models, we are enabled to create a “map of our being” and to closely inspect it, see where we are and where we can be. Once this can be done we can start redrawing the lines of our self, reframing our narrative in such a way that it can benefit not only ourselves but the whole of society. Because, the only way to entirely transform yourself is to transform your culture.
We no longer strive solely to accumulate worldly success because we see it as a moral obligation to develop our talents to their fullest capacity in the hopes that they might serve a larger vision for humanity. In serving that larger vision we begin to create a new culture, a new conscious civilization.
We call out to all those that are aware or that feel that the reality they are currently inhabiting is somewhat akin to a charade, a mirage. To those that are willing to bear full responsibility over themselves and to assume responsibility for the affairs of reality. To those that criticize by creating, practice “yes, and” rather than “no, but”; it is you who we salute and welcome.
